Cherry Rock

Friday, May 7th, 2010

ABW was stoked to be part of the Cherryrock festival down in AC/DC lane (melbs) last week. I couldn’t get down there as I don’t thinks it’s cool to turn up to rock festivals with a dribbling midget attached to ones leg. Then again it wouldn’t be that different to going out with some of my mates from the old days. Regardless I heard it was a pumping afternoon.

Big kudos to James Young and team.

A risky sponsorship?

next wave

ABW will be the exclusive water sponsors of the 2010 Next Wave festival.

The theme this year is ‘No risk too great’.

From the next wave website: “Subversive gender & defiant sexuality. Apocalyptic fantasies. Busby Berkeley Murders. One-on-One encounters. Protest and activism. Local hazards and monotonous labour. The raw, the messy and the unfinished. Science, religion, truth & death”.

No freakin’ idea what any of that means but the program looks amazing.

Community Cup 09

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Recently ABW was proud to sponsor the 2009 Community Cup. We sponsored the event in 2007 but last year the event was in hiatus.

This year the event was ran by Reclink and was held at Elsternwick park. It was a cold windy day but well worth it to finally see the Espy Rockdogs over throw the damn Megahertz.

Best of all over $120,000 was raised to support to ongoing work of Reclink

Yea Autumn Festival

yea post office

We donated some water to the Yea Autumn Festival today. It was a great day out and it was great to see a community letting their hair down and having a boogie to Spiderbait and Little Red.

It was worth it just for the drive up there. Driving through forests of charcoal trees was mesmerising. The road to King Lake was blocked off but we had no interest in seeing too much. Seeing the Glenburn pub burnt to the ground was enough for my wife and I. We had only had a beer in there about 6 months ago.

Apparently the Yea festival was almost called off because of the fires. But the good folks from the Melbourne Festival stepped in to make sure the event went ahead. If you live in Melbourne and you missed this event, make sure you get up to these areas soon and put a bit of cash into the community.

Esky is a portable blow up igloo shaped bar that has been popping up all around Melbourne as part of the Next Wave Festival. Not only is it a great spot to stop for a glass of Mountain Goat or a bottle of ABW, but they also have video screening nights.

The Next Wave festival has now finished for another year, but I am sure a great idea like that will be seen around a lot more.

Australian Fashion Week

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Recently we were proud to sponsor the off schedule Australian Fashion Week shows for two up and coming designers; Gail Sorronda and Kim Ellery.
By all accounts the events went well and it looks like these two designers are destined for great things.

Great work guys.

As mentioned in an earlier post this year we were proud to sponsor the 2008 TV Fugly awards, by helping out the guys with a mock ceremony down near the crown casino. Wow what a show we put on hey? Check out the video. The first part is at the top and the second part is at the bottom.

Strangely none of the celebrities who were nominated for the awards showed up. We were especially surprised by a no show from Kyle Sandilands who blitzed the field with three awards. We did attempt to take the award up to the channel 10 studios to request that the award be given to him, but i guess he must be flat out with his Big Brother gig.

Anyway, congratulations to all the winners and thanks to everyone who voted.

Also a big thanks to Anthony for letting us be involved this year. We had a lot of fun.

The Great Ocean Road Marathon is starting this weekend. The major sponsor are our good friends Green U. I think the plan is that Green U get the runners hyped up on their natural energy drink and we keep them going for the rest of the 45km.

Yes that’s right 45km! Is anyone from Another Bloody Water actually running in the race I hear you ask? Not on your life.

Besides I would be too scared that I would spill some on my beer.

If you are running on the day, good luck and I hope Another Bloody Water gives you the refreshment you need to make it to the end.

V Festy Fun

Monday, April 28th, 2008

ABW was mightily stoked to be the official water sponsor of the V Festival that toured Australia recently. From Sydney to Gold Coast, Melbourne to Perth we were busy hydrating punters and musos alike. The Presets blew the roof off, Modest Mouse was amazing and Roisin Murphy was mesmerising.

Sydney got the biggest turnout, but Goldcoast has to be applauded for making the most of a very wet and muddy arena

Thanks to everyone from the V Festival (yes, I’m talking to you R.B) for a great event see y’all next year.
